How To Avoid 3 Common Fundraising Mistakes Entrepreneurs Make That Can Sink A Business!

Starting a startup might seem all exciting and there could be times that everything falls into its respective place. You think about starting a business and the customers come knocking at your door since day one.

You raise funds easily and your first pitch to your investors is a rip-roaring success. Everything goes according to the script, even if you didn’t think too much about it. But what happens when you couldn’t able to generate investment for the second round? What happens when things go wrong?

Watch everything that you need to know about Fundraising in this video:

The problem with effortless success is that it does not prepare you for the worst. Some so many entrepreneurs tasted early success in their entrepreneurial journey, but things got a little tricky when additional capital was required. Their numbers were bad and their business looked like a nightmare which put the investors off-board.

So what are those BIGGEST mistakes of fundraising that every entrepreneur must avoid? Here is a list:

1. Catastrophic Mistakes

There are plenty of crucial decisions to be made over the first few raises. Entrepreneurs must decide how to pick the right investor for their business, whether they should try crowdfunding, and how to evaluate their business. The important steps can help to take the business to successful heights. But these are the areas where people can make catastrophic mistakes.

How to avoid it?

The starting point is the exit! What many people don`t realize is that taking investments puts you on a path to exit. Every investor wants to get off in 6-10 years with a return. So looking at the stages to exit is the place from where entrepreneurs should think further than expected. Also, one can take professional help from the best business coach in India.

2. The Correct Numbers

Focusing on numbers is one of the most essential things if you want to ensure that your business sustains in the long run. Many start-up businesses fail to thrive ahead because the founders couldn’t raise a second tranche of money. Numbers are critical even at the pre-revenue stage and therefore it is vital to work on the financial plan. Most founders overestimate the cost and the period it will take to hit targets.

How to practice it in the real world?

So understanding the biggest gap that exists in the business models is between what is being projected and the actual cost bases is very important. Investors typically look for businesses that can understand their cohort financial analysis, customer acquisition drivers, and churn rates. Hence, an in-depth understanding of unit economics and how it can be improved can help any business to sustain itself for a longer time. However, hiring a business coach too can help you navigate the challenges of fundraising.

3. Unpicking Experience

To err is human. And one of the best qualities that humans are bestowed with is their ability to learn from them. But is the fact that someone has made mistakes and learned a valuable lesson from them is necessarily a reason to trust their judgment? Well, certainly not!

Unless humans make mistakes, their learning will never start. However, it is not advisable to carry the burden of past mistakes over their shoulders. Many entrepreneurs carry the weight of their past business mistakes to their present and future. But dwelling on past mistakes results in nothing more than unhelpful introspection.

How to avoid it?

Learning from past mistakes is something that every successful business leader must do. Also, if you take help from a business coach he or she can probably help you to learn from their professional mistakes which is probably every essential.

Fundraising is certainly not easy! Even if you find investors in the first round easily that does not guarantee for the next investment rounds to be that smooth. Hence, only by understanding both the thinking of investors and the pitfalls that may lie ahead, businesses can be better equipped to obtain the funding they need. And taking the professional expertise of a business coach can demystify the investment landscape for entrepreneurs.

Financial Policy Normalization Likely To Begin By The End Of FY22

With the interest rates continually declining, the Reserve Bank of India may start tightening the monetary policy. The gradual normalization of the policy is likely to begin by the end of this financial year.

While the CPI inflation moderated marginally to 6.26 percent, the retail inflation declined in June but remained above the 6 percent threshold for the second consecutive month.

A Kotak report noted that a peak in inflation may provide comfort to MPC.

“Softer-than-expected CPI inflation along with broad-based moderation in core inflation is expected to provide relief to the MPC to continue with the pro-growth policy guidance in the near term. While much depends on the incoming data, we expect the onset of gradual policy normalization towards the end of FY2022,” it said.

Core inflation (CPI excluding food, fuel, and pan, tobacco) moderated to 6.2 percent, with flat sequential momentum following a surge of 1.5 percent M-oM in May. After a broad-based increase in the components of core inflation in May, prices have risen a lot lesser in June across all categories except transport and communication.

“We expect core inflation to average 6.1 percent in FY2022 (5.3 percent in FY2021) amid pass-through of global commodity prices and pickup in demand across various services sectors through FY2022,” it said.

While the headline inflation remains elevated above MPC’s upper threshold of 6 percent, the June print suggests that inflation may have peaked and the trajectory in 3QFY22 will moderate towards an average of 4.7 percent.

“We expect RBI to continue to maintain a pro-growth bias in the August policy focus given that a large part of the increase remains supply-driven and, hence, transitory in nature,” it said.

However, as economic activity begins to normalize with progress in vaccination, RBI’s room to ignore the inflationary risks, as well as a closing of the negative output gap, will be restricted, prompting gradual monetary policy normalization from October, although much will depend on the evolution of the pandemic, vaccination, and data, it said.

Another significant challenge that the pandemic has thrown was the increasing speed of cyber-attacks and robust security threats. IT Ministry Says New IT Rules To Ensure A Safer & More Responsible Social Media Ecosystem

With Twitter India on Sunday hints towards complying completely with the IT rules by appointing Vinay Prakash as the resident grievance office, the IT & Communications minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Sunday said the new information technology rules will empower and protect the users at the same time.

Adding further, he said the new IT rules will ensure a safer and more responsible social media ecosystem in India.

The new rules which came into effect on May 25 mandate social media companies to establish a grievance redressal mechanism for resolving complaints from the users or victims.

“Reviewed the implementation and compliance of Information Technology Rules, 2021 along with my colleague Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar Ji. These guidelines are empowering and protecting users and will ensure a safer and more responsible social media ecosystem in India,” Vaishnav said in a post on Twitter’s Indian competitor Koo platform.

All significant social media companies, with over 50 lakh user bases shall appoint a grievance officer to deal with such complaints and share the name and contact details of such officers.

The big social media companies are mandated to appoint a chief compliance officer, a Nodal Contact Person, and a resident grievance officer. All of them should be a resident in India.

While Twitter has named its Resident Grievance Officer for India, Facebook-owned WhatsApp has challenged the new IT rules for social media intermediaries requiring the messaging app to trace chats and make provisions to identify the first originator of the information, saying they violate the right to privacy and are unconstitutional.

WhatsApp further alleged the requirement of intermediaries enabling the identification of the first originator of information in India upon government or court order puts end-to-end encryption and its benefits “at-risk”.

Some of the media houses have also challenged the new IT rules and the matter is sub-judice.

How To Build A Strong Business Network When You Are An Introvert Entrepreneur?

Aditya, a 24-year-old guy, with plenty of revolutionary startup business ideas in his mind and a determination to set up his startup hails from Kanpur, a city in Uttar Pradesh. Surrounded by a large crowd of successful entrepreneurs and young solopreneurs who are chasing their business goals, he is getting nervous with each passing minute.

He can feel the sweat beads forming consistently and rolling down over his forehead against his will, which adds up to his discomfort. He can feel his heart thumping, ready to leap out of his chest. And, while many of you may think that Aditya is about to experience a cardiac arrest, let us tell you that nothing of this sort is about to happen.

Aditya, who has a charming personality and the confidence to sweep any businessman off with his effective communication skills and creative ideas, is also an INTROVERT. Being an introvert means meeting total strangers or attending an event with hundreds of people is no less than a nightmare.

While many people can easily share personal stories while making business contacts, there are also people like Aditya who want to build a strong network and close business deals for his business idea but can`t approach a stranger and start talking. You can also watch video on “Covid Proof & Recession Proof Business Ideas” , here:

Loud and crowded settings are often intimidating for introverts and draining. But in a world that often recognizes an extrovert as the ideal personality, how do introverts get ahead when it comes to building a network?

Here are five tips that can help even the most introverted entrepreneurs improve his or her networking skills:

1. BE YOURSELF

One of the most clichéd tips of all time, yet very effective and true. Accepting your weaknesses and strengths is the ultimate way of evolving both personally and professionally. Beating yourself up for not having an outgoing personality will not help you in any way. It will only create a sense of inferiority that will hold you back in the future.

Make improvements by learning from extroverts, but don`t expect yourself to behave like one. To get uplift your mood and spirits, you can listen to the best motivational speaker in India.

2. CUSTOMIZE YOUR APPROACH

There is nothing wrong if you feel more comfortable in a small group. After someone accepts your invitation to discuss your startup business idea, look for scenarios where you can meet people in settings that are peaceful and ideal for network building. You can invite business investors to small group or in-person activities like a cup of coffee at your favorite café to discuss endless business possibilities.

It may take you more time to meet new people. But, it will help you to overcome your hesitation to meet new people and will build much deeper and significant relationships.

3. ONE STEP AT A TIME

If you too get cold feet like Aditya when it comes to approaching even one person, then fret not! Take baby steps. Do not rush. Do not try to force yourself to go and talk to people when you are not comfortable. Forced conversations can leave a negative impact on your investor.

Begin by exchanging emails or few direct messages on LinkedIn with your business prospect. This will give you a sense of familiarity with the person you are about to meet in person. After you have communicated through emails, take the conversation ahead by meeting them in person. You can also hire a business coach who can help you overcome hesitation.

4. ASK FOR A WARM INTRODUCTION

It is very normal for introverts to remain with that one connection they make in an event for the entirety. However, being an entrepreneur you will have to build multiple connections for your business growth. Force yourself out of your comfort zone. Tell yourself a number and meet as many people within a certain amount of time. Explain that you are a little introvert and it will be amazing if they can introduce yourself.

5. PLAN AHEAD FOR EVENTS

Aditya is not alone in this world! Many people like him begin sweating at the mere mention of attending events. Many people in this world do not find the thought of meeting countless strangers pleasing. But, building a network is an important aspect of a start-up business. A little planning can ease out the entire situation for introverts.

When you find an event that can materialize your startup business idea into reality, you can contact the organizer a couple of days ahead of the event. See if the organizer can help you to make introductions through email or social media. On the day of the event, you will know specifically which people to seek out.

Introverts may find meeting total strangers and converting those meetings into treasured resources quite overwhelming. But as an entrepreneur, you have to have a strong network. So, networking has to be a part of the business plan.

To resolve this challenge, we have many ‘Problem Solving Courses’ that include personality development as well to help you build a strong network.

To Encourage Entrepreneurs Nitin Gadkari Will Promote Khadi Prakritik Paint Made From Cow Dung!

Inaugurating the new automated manufacturing unit of Khadi Prakritik Paint in Jaipur, India`s first paint made from cow dung, Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari on July 6, 2021, said he would be the brand ambassador of Khadi Prakritik Paint and would promote it across the country.

“This will encourage young entrepreneurs to take up the manufacturing of the cow dung paint”, he added.

“Even inaugurating infrastructure projects that are worth lakhs of crores of rupees is not as pleasing and satisfying as inaugurating this manufacturing unit.” He also said that this would go a long way in empowering the rural and agro-based economy in the country.

“Khadi Prakritik Paint has immense potential of creating sustainable development for the benefit of the poorest of the poor and the target should be setting up a prakritik paint unit in every village,” the ministry said quoting Gadkari.

“Available in two variants, Distemper and Emulsion; Khadi Prakritik Paint contains ‘AshtaLaabh’ — eight benefits like anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and natural thermal insulation properties. This paint is eco-friendly, non-toxic, odorless, and cost-effective,” it added.

The new plant has been set up on the campus of Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute, Jaipur. Currently, the daily production of the paint is 500 liters which will go up to 1,000 liters per day, it said. Commissioning of the new unit will double the production capacity of the paint.

Amazon launches Its First ‘Digital Kendra’ To Help MSMEs Start Digital Journey!

Setting its first brick-and-mortar ‘Digital Kendra’ in Surat, Gujarat, Amazon India announced the launch of its first resource center in India.

Staying true to its mission to digitize 10 million Indian small and medium businesses (SMBs), Amazon ‘Digital Kendras’ will act as establishments and will provide opportunities to small business owners to learn about the benefits of e-commerce. It will also avail the third-party services like shipping and logistics support, cataloging assistance, digital marketing services, GST, and taxation support to kick start their journey towards being digital entrepreneurs.

Manish Tiwary, Vice President at Amazon India said, “This is an important step towards the commitment we have made to digitize MSMEs. Our thought process was that if Amazon can go down to these MSME clusters and handhold them through their journey of digitization, it will help small businesses take their first steps towards e-commerce. Our trained resource partners will take these MSMEs through all the services and various programs which Amazon provides.”

“Amazon believes that a sustainable way for MSMEs to get on their feet is to go digital. And having the comfort of a physical center will only help MSMEs get the right level of confidence,” added Tiwary.

Tiwary added that Amazon India has helped Indian MSMEs export $1 billion in shipments in the last 12 months, under its ‘Global Selling’ program. Of the 850,000 sellers on Amazon India, the e-commerce major has onboarded over 300,000 sellers since January 2020.

“Last year at Smbhav, we had announced that Amazon will invest $1 billion in India to help digitize 10 million Indian MSMEs by 2025. And today, we take one more important step towards that goal as we open our first Amazon ‘Digital Kendra’ in Surat, Gujarat. This is an earnest endeavor to bring the right tools, support, and services infrastructure closer to where MSMEs are based and help them benefit from e-commerce,” said Amit Agarwal, senior vice president, and country head, Amazon India.

Amazon India has more than 100,000 sellers in Gujarat, at present, Tiwary added.

Last year, during Amazon Inc founder Jeff Bezos’s visit to India, the company had announced three important commitments – to digitally enable 10 million MSMEs, enable eCommerce exports worth $10 billion and create 1 million additional jobs in India between 2020 and 2025.

Based on the feedback for its first ‘Digital Kendra’, Amazon India will look to open more such resource centers in the country.

7 Leadership Lessons Entrepreneurs Can Learn From M.S Dhoni For Success!

An outstanding batsman, an excellent wicket-keeper, and a powerful leader- Mahendra Singh Dhoni was one of the brilliant captains in Indian cricket history. He has developed an extraordinary reputation for being one of the greatest leaders that the game of cricket has ever seen.

Though he retired from Test Cricket in 2014, he still has a great influence over Indian and international cricket. Not just an extraordinary captain and leader, Dhoni also swiped many awards and holds several records including most wins by an Indian captain in Tests and One Day Internationals. He also has the most back-to-back wins by an Indian captain in ODIs.

India won the 2007 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20, the Commonwealth Bank Series of 2007–08, the 2010 Asia Cup, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy under his captaincy.

His list of achievements is so long that we can keep on writing and still some of them will be left behind. But there is one amazing trait of our former Indian captain that deserves special mention- his leadership skills.

M.S. Dhoni has an arsenal of leadership skills that entrepreneurs can certainly apply both personally and professionally. Here are seven incredible leadership traits that are a useful template for business captains too:

1. Being True to yourself & Confident

Confidence is the key to success and M.S Dhoni is the best example of that. Even though he comes from a very modest background, he never let this hold him back from achieving his dreams. On the field or off the field, Dhoni is always confident, forthright and often surprises his fans, audience, and media with his witty comments.

Staying true to yourself will not just carry you far in the sporting world, but also the corporate as well as the business world.

2. Handling Seniors & Managing Egos

Despite the presence of many senior players in the team, Dhoni was chosen as the captain of the Indian Cricket Team in 2007. It was a tricky situation that could have backfired had it not been handled wonderfully by Dhoni. After becoming the captain of the team, he did not rush to make changes to mark his stamp. Instead, he took his time about making changes and maintaining strategies that had been proven useful.

This is something that new entrepreneurs or managers can learn from Dhoni. In business, many managers or senior leaders have to contend with and manage the egos of various people in their team. However, patience is the key to win the hearts even of those with the iron ones. Some can also listen to leadership speakers in India to enhance this essential trait.

3. Staying Calm under Pressure

M.S. Dhoni has earned the title of “Captain Cool” due to his calm and composed demeanor on the field even during nail-biting moments. Even when severely tested, he manages to not lose his temper which used to influence the entire team to resist caving in. He kept inspiring the team like the best motivational speaker to perform at par no matter what the situation is.

This is one of the most crucial leadership skills for entrepreneurs to keep calm and not give up when the situation is not in their favor.

4. Handling Success

Dhoni well-received fame and money at a very early stage in his career. But he was and still is, humble and modest. He did not let the success get over his head while maintaining a steady path.

We often see that entrepreneurs who gain success too early often lose their focus and balance. They are unable to maintain the poise that is required for the business’s success in the long run.

5. Staying Focused

To remain focus on your goals amidst all the criticism is no child`s play. But Dhoni showcased his indomitable spirit of remaining focused on what is important during the Champions Trophy amidst the controversy that surrounded the Indian Premier League.

An ability to cut through the clutter, distraction, and negative energy is one of the best marks of a strong leader in every situation. If you want to become a powerful leader, you can hire one of the best leadership speakers in IndiaDr. Vivek Bindra.

6. Handling Failure

Handling failure is as important as handling success. And no one has ever done it better than the former Indian captain M.S Dhoni himself. In the 2011 World Cup, Dhoni and his team were performing spectacular but then suffered a string of losses. However, the captain cool fought back by showcasing a world-class game of cricket combined with his high spirits.

Ups and downs are part of an entrepreneurial journey. Businesses tend to suffer some degree of failure at some point or the other. But, if you want to be successful, you will have to have the courage and strength to bounce back without losing faith in your dreams.

7. Team Playing

Just like no cricket team can win a match without the contribution of its 11 players, no company or organization can succeed without the team’s efforts. Dhoni has always believed in encouraging and supporting his players at all times with his trust and confidence. This support from their captain has always inspired them to play like there is no tomorrow.

This is a golden trait of M.S Dhoni that makes him the most loved and respectable captain of all time. Entrepreneurs should feel safe to experiment and fail if they need to be. Managers must also come to terms with the fact that no organization or department can achieve its goals without their respective team members.

M.S Dhoni is known not only for his famous ‘helicopter shot’ and his excellent class of game but also for his unmatched leadership skills and team spirit. Young entrepreneurs can learn big lessons from him about how resilience and focus can help their businesses to grow.
